The New Beds

Ok, so bunk beds sounded like such a great idea. The whole sharing a bedroom thing worked really well for several weeks. However, the last couple of days have been AWFUL!!!
How on earth are you supposed to convince a 1-1/2 year old and a 3 year old that they are not supposed to play when it's bed time. I don't think the talking and chattering would bother me as much if they weren't staying up super late and then waking up before 6am every morning. Cranky 1 and Cranky 2 are driving me crazy!

Which probably makes me Cranky 3....

I had the same problem when I was watching my niece. I had two 3 year olds that would do nothing but giggle and play during nap time, but I only had one room to put them in.

The only way I could get it to work was putting them in their beds, make them lay down, shush them whenever they made a peep, and I would sit in the room until at least one fell asleep. If one was out the other wasn't far behind because she had no one to talk to. It was a good time to catch up on my reading or lay on the floor and take a little nap myself. Good luck!

Wyatt's deal with the big bed is waking up at 5:30 AM! There's nothing like hearing "MOMMMMEEEEEE! Is is morning yet!!!!" before the crack of dawn!

That's exactly why we moved to a 3 bedroom apartment! But our day will come eventually seeing as we will be living here for the next 3.5 years, so some time down the road our 2 girls will be sharing a room. Best of luck!

I agree with Suzanne. If my kids don't want to sleep (at night, or at naptime), I either lay with them, or sit in the same room reading a book and shushing them. After a while they figure out that its 'time for sleeping not playing' and you can wean yourself away, to the hallway, next room, etc. Good luck. I sure love getting no sleep whilest being pregnant. ;)

Ouch no fun...non sleeping babies!! I agree with Suzanne and Marianne. Patience and Persitence. But there are some really good books you could read with their night light!! =) Best of luck.
