BABY GIRL!!!!!!

The Scott Family five will soon be the Scott Family six.  These are the 3D images of our 20 week old little girl!  We are so excited to have a new bundle of joy in our house!!  I just keep thinking, are we old enough to have 4 kids?  I don't think so.  Ah well.  Our due date is March 5, 2013.  We are feeling very blessed and thankful to Heavenly Father that this baby is healthy and things are progressing well.  

Ok.. we haven't vanished... we've just been busy, so I thought a little recap from the last 6 months (or maybe more) would be in order. Here goes: --Josh turned 30 and went skydiving for his birthday! Go Daddy! --Josh decided he wanted to finish his Bachelor's Degree at BYU-I and was readmitted --Josh got a job at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg and so we moved... again... --Now we live in Idaho and Josh starts school in January --We went to Disneyland (thanks Grandma and Grandpa!) --I decided to home school and we love it! --Elizabeth turned 6 (how did that happen? Time flies by too fast!) --We've been exploring Idaho and finding some pretty fun things --Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and then Christmas and New Years... I wonder what next year will bring us?

Student of the Month

It was with much pride and back-slapping that our Elizabeth was named the "Student of the Month" in her Kindergarten class. She is a high achiever, a good friend and regularly stays on task. We are so proud of you Lizzy!

Elizabeth's First Lost Tooth

Well, she finally did it. Elizabeth finally allowed Mom, not Dad, to pull out her loose tooth. Our oldest child has a hole in her head.

Dish Duty

We have made a fantastic discovery at our house. Elizabeth and Rachel are now in charge of after-dinner dishes! What a relief it is to be able to watch these beautiful girls work together and accomplish something. And yes, they often require parental encouragement but they are in charge.

Wallace Falls

Janine went shopping with her sister, so Yann and a friend of mine and our kids went for a hike to Wallace Falls. This is break and snack time for all hikers. Nice of them to put a bench for us to sit on.



During the hike, there were lots of run-of streams that eventually made it to the river. There was a bridge that crossed over the river with some rapids/falls that we thought were cool looking.



Lizzy was a trooper and carried her backpack the entire hike.



This picture just helps illustrate how short Jorgan is and I wanted to show his momma how high on the railing that I put Jorgan on. He loved being able to see the water rushing down.



This is Wallace Falls. The trail keeps going to the top of the falls but the kids were getting tired so we decided that we all had a good time and started our journey back.



On the way back, Jorgan started smelling this tree. I don't think that it smelled interesting but he sniffed the tree a few times before I could coax him to move on. I just thought that it was cute.

Tea Party

Our kids wanted to have a tea party. We invited one friend for each girl and enjoyed some hot cocoa and cakes. Being of the LDS religion, we don't drink tea but hot cocoa works wonderfully. The girls and their friends had a wonderful time. They were so cute all dressed up for their party. I loved those outfits.

Read to Me

Jorgan loves to have books read to him. Sometimes, his parents are busy doing other things so Jorgan will find someone else to read to him. How awesome is it that Elizabeth is willing and capable of reading to her younger brother. What a great big sister she is. Side note: if you look close you'll see that they are sitting in the exact same position. We love you kids!!

"Blue"

So Jorgan has a "blankie" that he named Blue. Gratefully he does not suck his thumb with his blanket. This is the blanket that Janine made when we didn't have any children. He always sleeps with Blue and is very cute with his "blankie"

Hail!

We woke up and it was raining like mad, go figure, we live in Seattle. By the afternoon, it was sunny and beautiful outside so we went to the park. By the time we arrived at the park, it was raining again! So we decided to walk home. After we got home, it started to hail. It hailed so much, it looked like snow. We got rain, sun and hail in about 6 hours! Welcome to Seattle weather.

Learning to Type

Every once in a while we read a book that we LOVE! Then the kids want me to read it over and over and over... We read one of these recently, called "I Wanna New Room" the kids thought it was so funny! So I was thinking that we should start making a list of our most favorite books. I grabbed a piece of paper and had Elizabeth write down the title and author of this book, then I wrote down a couple more of our favorites. Then I thought, maybe Elizabeth could practice typing by keeping our list on the computer. So here is a picture of her typing with Rachel and Jorgan watching intently. It took about 20 minutes but she did get 2 book titles and authors down on Microsoft Word!

Rachel's Hair Cut

For General Conference, I put together kits of activities for the kids. Included in their kit was of course crayons, pencils, scissors, and glue. I was hoping that this would help entertain them so that Josh and I could listen... I was wrong, but that's beside the point!
After conference I had the kids collect all their things and put them back into their kits (a brown paper bag). And here lies my big mistake! I set their kits on the fireplace when I went to bed. While Josh was making breakfast Monday morning Elizabeth ran into the kitchen yelling, "Daddy! Rachel is cutting her hair!"



So now that we have spent the last 4 years trying to get some hair on this kid... she cut it off herself! We had a talk about how we shouldn't cut our own hair, then she cleaned up her mess. Later she said to me, "Mom, I shouldn't have done that." At least she knows!!

Playing with Daddy

This is a favorite game at our house. One person rolls around the trampoline as the everyone else tries to jump over them. They can play this game forever!!!

Babysitting

My sister, Melodie, came over from Ellensburg to visit a friend. So we got to babysit Samantha! The kids adore her and were so excited to have her at our house. Jorgan sat on the couch for at least 5 minutes holding her and feeding her a bottle. Then Rachel and Elizabeth both took turns feeding her as well. The rest of the evening was spent talking to her and kissing her and taking turns holding her. She is a really happy baby and didn't fuss throughout any of the passing around between kids... It was amazing!

Learning to Vacuum

I was thinking that maybe Elizabeth was old enough to learn how to vacuum... So here's a picture of her first try. I think she might not be tall enough for the vacuum. When she pushes it the front comes up.. so it's not really doing anything. I had to keep reminding her to hold it up higher, and then she was struggling to push it. Maybe we'll try again in a couple of months :o)

The Wise Man and the Foolish Man

I wish we would have caught the beginning of this song. Rachel and Jorgan are sitting at the table eating a snack. Josh and I were sitting in the front room talking when we heard Rachel asking Jorgan what song he wanted to sing. SO this is her singing The Wise Man and the Foolish Man to Jorgan. We kept taping hoping that they would sing more, but they didn't. Sorry it is a little difficult to hear... we didn't want them to realize we were taping and stop singing, so we recorded from the other room.

I wish I were a baby doll

Best Friends

There's not much to say, other than, these two are inseparable! Jorgan asks for Dad all day when he is at work, and when he is home wants to do everything with him! They make quite the pair~


Elizabeth and Rachel have truly become great friends as they have grown older. Rachel really relies on Elizabeth for all fun things. And she often uses her as an excuse do not do things... she says, "Mom, I can't because Elizabeth isn't here" OR "Mom I can't do that without my sister" It's fun to see how much Rachel looks up to Elizabeth and wants to be like her.


These pictures were taken after church one Sunday. Sometimes if I can catch Liz in the right mood, she'll let me curl her hair for church. So this particular Sunday while I was curling Elizabeth's hair Rachel came in asking me to give her a hair do too. So, since Liz is normally straight and we were doing curly... we decided on the opposite for Rachel, curly to straight. They were so cute! If Rachel hadn't have cut all the hair off the top of her head (post still to come) then we would probably repeat that hair do every Sunday!

Rachel's Birthday Day

So, I'm not doing a very good job of catching up! I'm still over a month behind!
Since we celebrated Rachel's birthday a week early, we of course, have to celebrate it again on her actual birthday. So, before Josh went to work, we made a cake and sang happy birthday to her again.
This time I let the kids decorate the cake. They enjoyed the sprinkles... however there were so many sprinkles that I could hardly eat the cake.


We are so blessed to have this little girl in our family! She has taught me so much about love and kindness. I admire her great love of our Savior Jesus Christ. She often says, "Mom, Jesus is in our heart" She is growing up to be so bright and full of energy. She surprises us all the time with how mature she is becoming. When we took her in for her well check with the Dr, she was getting shots, so we waited till the last minute to tell her about it. She just looked at me like, "Mom, what are you so worried about". She had 4 shots, watched each one, then jumped down from the table like it was no big deal. (To compare, we literally had to hold Elizabeth down for hers) She is also super bright. Elizabeth is learning how to read, so Rachel wants to learn too. She gets out the "learning how to read" book and recites the first few lessons perfectly! Then she wants to keep going to learn new ones! She is just very self motivated! What an admirable quality!

Rachel -- The Big Sister

About a month ago we decided to take the bunk beds apart, move Elizabeth into her own room and put Rachel and Jorgan together in a bedroom. The move was initially to help Elizabeth have more responsibilities and hopefully help encourage her to have more grown up behavior.
Surprisingly, the change has had a grown up effect on Rachel too. All of the sudden she is finding "Big Sister" things to do. It's fun to watch her take on the role of helper when Elizabeth is gone at school.
