Rachel's First Pig Tails

Our sweet Rachel is turning 3 in a few weeks! Yah! But as we all well know, she was not the child blessed with tons of hair. So, even though Liz had her first pig tails and not even 2 years old, Rachel is almost 3 and she barely had enough hair! So, here we are recording a very exciting day when Rachel could wear her first Pig Tails!

Isn't she super cute!!

Happy Birthday Jorgan

I can't believe that it has been a year already since he was born. Where did the time go? Life seems to be flying by!
We sure love having this little man in our family. He has added a new dimension to our lives. He is definitely the life of the party over here. He does anything and everything to make us all laugh. Jorgan and Rachel have a special bond I think because Rachel gives him so much attention. She's always saying, "Mom, I think Jorgan likes me!". He laughs at her so much. Elizabeth and Jorgan are a cute pair because Elizabeth is old enough to play with him and help him do things. She holds his hands and walks him around he house, and she helps him with his puzzle (He takes the pieces out and hands them to her, then she puts them all back in the puzzle so that he can then take them all out and hand them to her all over again).

He had a blast at his little party with every one paying attention to him constantly. Josh and I made him a cake, about 5 times to big for a kid his size, and then we gave him the whole thing. He took a little taste and then looked up and said, "Mmmmm" then kept on going for more.

Grandma, Grandpa, Jacob, Uncle Ben, Aunt Celeste, Madelynn, Aunt Bridgette, and Billy all came to see him. He loved showing off how he can walk and watching everyone clap for him when he was successful!

He is such a sweet baby, and we love him so much. He has truly brought more happiness to our home than I could have ever imagined. Jorgan, we love you! Happy Birthday!

What?? The First Bubble Bath??

Although Jorgan has had tons of baths in his short life, we realized the other day that we had never given him a bubble bath. So this is a picture of his first bubble bath! He was a little bit unsure at first, but he got pretty into it once he realized it was supposed to be fun.

Here he is snuggling daddy. I think this is the best part of bathtime! Snuggles!!

And of course, we can't leave out a picture of everyone in the bath. The girls are getting to be pretty big for the bath tub, so pretty soon we won't be able to fit them all in there. That will be a sad day... But for now, here they are!

Translation:

Dear Momma,
I hope that I'll be 6 one day. And I hope that Camill will be my friend and she'll be in my class one day. I hope that I'll be older and older some day.

me: What else? You wrote a lot of letters, you must have said something else.

Elizabeth: nope. That's it!

Just like Mommy

My mom tells this story about me when I was little, I think I was less than 2. She tells me that I was playing with my brother and he did something mean to me. She said that I came in the house all sad looking and she asked me what was wrong. She said that I didn't answer her, but just walked up to the wall and put my forehead against it and just stood there.

Here is Jorgan after Rachel tripped over him and kneed him in the head:

He started crying and so I walked over and put my arms out to pick him up and he turned his head and set it right on the wall. I know this is bad.... but I started laughing. He refused to let me console him. So I ran for the camera.

Walking???

Okay... I'm not losing momentum!!! My computer just won't turn on... And of course the warranty expired not even 6 months ago. Perfect timing, right? But, I'm not going to let it stop me. I used it as an excuse for a couple of days, but not anymore. So here's to keeping up my blog!

Here is Jorgan taking his first steps. He had pulled himself up to that chair by the piano, then I started taunting him, "Walk! Jorgan! Walk!" And he did. He let go of the chair and took about 3 steps towards me. So this is me trying to recreate his first steps.

Janine's Valentines Day Present

As soon as Janine and I moved into our rental house, she wanted to plant flowers in our backyard. She told me that for Valentines Day, she wanted flowers that she and her girls could plant. That involved buying soil that actually has nutrients for growing things, (anyone that has ever tried to plant things in Las Vegas knows that the soil is not the best for growing things) churning up the existing soil to pull all of the rocks out and mixing good soil in, putting in a dripper system to water the flowers and then finally planting the flowers. Please enjoy the pictures of our flower garden, because we sure are.

Love a Momma

We have been having lots of fun with our camera lately. I just love watching the best Mom in the world play with her kids. I sure am glad I followed my mother's and my mother-in-law's council and married Janine. Take a look at these priceless photos

Thank goodness I found the best woman in the entire world!!!!!Yet another reason to "Love a Momma"

Valentine's Day Cupcakes

The girls and I decided to make some pink cupcakes today in celebration of the upcoming valentine's day. Well, if you know how things work at my house, then you know that I am not the "baker" here. If there are goodies at my house, they are made by Josh.

And this is why...

I didn't have a cake mix, so we made a white cake from scratch and added pink coloring. I'm not sure what we did wrong, but they didn't get big and fluffy like they are supposed to. In fact, instead of getting big and fluffy, they just spilled out over the edges causing burning and lots of smoke! I had to open the doors and windows since I didn't want the smoke detector to wake up Jorgan...
The girls, however, are very proud of their creations and thought they tasted great! Honestly the taste isn't awful, they just look miserable!

Daddy is being sneaky...

We love days when Josh is home from work. He loves to play and the kids love all the extra attention they get when he is around. So last night I'm in the kitchen cooking dinner and Josh and the girls are in the backyard playing. All of the sudden I hear clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk... Then I hear it again... It only took me a second to realize that Daddy was teaching a game that he probably shouldn't be teaching. It's called... Throw a ball onto the roof and catch it when it rolls back down...
After a few minutes of clunking above my head, Josh comes in the back door and then out the front door. I didn't really think anything of it, but Elizabeth comes running in the house yelling for dad. I let her know that she needs to stay in the backyard because I don't know what Josh is doing and I don't want her running up and down the street looking for him. Then she says, "Mom, Dad is just getting the yellow ball!" I say ok, but insist that she needs to wait for him in the backyard.
Josh comes back in without a ball, so I ask him, "Did you find the ball?"
Looking dumbfounded, He says, "How did you know I lost a ball?"
to which I replied, "Well I heard you throwing it up on the roof, and when Elizabeth said you were looking for the ball, I knew you had thrown it over the roof."
For some reason he thought he was in trouble... Unlike a mother... he does not have an image of 10 years down the road when his child attempts to throw a ball onto the roof and crashed it through a window!!!

I guess if he really didn't want me to know about it, then he shouldn't have let Elizabeth photograph it...

Funny Kids!

So the kids are playing and I decided that I would get a few candid pictures of them. I grab the camera and head back to the bedrooms where they are playing. I peak around the corner to see Rachel putting herself into this laundry basket. You can barely see her, but inside she is yelling, "Hi MOM!" and wiggling her fingers out the bottom. What a goof!

Then I catch this picture of Jorgan playing with the toys on his shelf. As soon as he hears the camera he races towards me. So I am trying to catch a picture of lil' mr. speed as he is racing to get a grab at the camera.

Things turn into an all out battle as he's giggling and chasing me around trying to catch me. Here's just a couple of cute shots I got of him as he's crawling all over me desperately trying to grab the camera.

I think he's the cutest little boy I have ever seen!!!

Bread Day

So Grandpa decided that he wanted to learn how to make bread. So Grandma, and Grandpa, and Jacob spent the day with us yesterday. We baked tons of bread and rolls, yum! I wish I had caught on camera Josh teaching his dad how to "spank the baby". That's what my mom always called smacking the bread to get all the air bubbles out. Josh is an expert baby bread spanker!! Then Grandma made her mom's special cinnamon knots. They were a huge hit with the kids... sugar and bread all in one... there are not many things better than that! Except maybe oatmeal chocolate chip butterscotch cookies. Elizabeth got busted for repeatedly sneaking them all day! Needless to say her tummy was "too full" to eat any dinner. Surprise! Surprise!

Since we had a counter full of bread (at one point a counter full of bread until we ate half of it) we decided that we should make a beef stew to go along with it for dinner! So Delicious....
