Happy Birthday Rachel!

Yesterday Rachel turned 2!! Yah!! Elizabeth keeps telling her, "Rachel, You're 2 now." Rachel has no idea what that means... but she'll figure it out eventually ;o)

A couple of weeks ago I took Rachel to a friend's birthday party. She sat on my lap sucking her thumb the entire time and refused to talk to anyone or play any games. So we decided that for our shy little Rachel no big birthday party was wanted. So we had Grandma, Grandpa, Jacob, Uncle Ben, Aunt Celeste, and Madelynn over. I think it was perfect. Rachel was perfectly comfortable and had a great time getting lots of love and attention.
We had been telling her that she was going to have a Birthday for several days and all she wanted to know was if there was going to be a birthday cake. ("Happy to you cake" is what she calls it) So Josh made her a big 3 level cake. She loved it and loved that we sang Happy Birthday to her. She is such a sweet little girl.
She also had to get all of her most favorite things. Uncle Ben and Aunt Celeste brought her minnie mouse. Grandma and Grandpa brought her an art desk... She loves having her own little place to sit! And Josh and I got her a little sleep and feed baby doll. So much fun for one little girl!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL!!!

3 Weeks... We're Making It!

Three kids is quite a trip. Luckily one still sleeps a lot and the other two are just glad that daddy has been around a lot. We are all feeling good and are happy to have a new person to play with at home. Just thought that I'd update with a few photos. He's growing fast and already is looking so different to me. We've been working on the double chin and it seems to be coming along well. Pretty soon you'll no longer be able to see any neck!

We are now officially "The Scott Family Five"

This is Jorgan on Feb. 21, 2009. I guess at this point Janine is still attached. This is Jorgan about 20 secs. old. Isn't he good-looking. Janine did most excellent. She rocked it. That smile on Janine's face means, "I am soooo glad that I am not pregnant anymore!" And because she carried him for nine months, I guess she gets to hold him first, at least I got to cut the cord. In case anyone noticed, that ring on top of his head is where they attached the suction cup to him because the little stinker was face up and having a hard time getting around all those bones in mommy. I guess being a boy wasn't different enough for him, he had to come out differently than his sisters too! We still love him anyways. As always, we need to see how big this kid is. He was 7 lbs and 4 oz. He was 19 and 3/4 in long. That makes him the tallest at birth but the second heaviest. (Liz still holds that title weighing in at 7 lbs and 10 oz.)I guess being out of mommy isn't so bad after all. I can at least stretch out! It's about time I got to hold him. He was already 3 minutes old. (3 excruciating minutes mind you :) He definitely looks cool. Welcome to our family. We Love Jorgan.

A Tribute to Daddy

Well, It's been a while since I've posted anything on our blog... how boring am I? So today I decided that I would find something to write about. As I looked through the camera at pictures, what did I find? All pictures of Josh loving his girls.

I've truly been realizing over the past few weeks what a wonderful husband I have. The last month of pregnancy is hard on everyone. I've noticed the girls are acting out more and are a little more grumpy than usual. I, of course, am just plain uncomfortable and grouchy with lack of sleep. Josh is stressed out but trying his hardest to keep our spirits high. His is doing double duty and taking care of so many more things than he should have too. Yet, he never complains.

As I was looking through pictures of the last couple of weeks I found these:

I took these pictures after getting out of the shower one morning and finding daddy teaching Elizabeth how to read. She's so excited now that she is learning how to sound out words.

Josh took this picture one day when I was not home. They were just playing outside having a wonderful time together. Josh is always the one to remember to take candid photos.

I took this picture after Josh flopped himself on the couch exhausted one day. He was only there a few seconds before both girls had to be right there with him. So much for resting... too bad he enjoyed every moment of their snuggles.

Elizabeth and I left to run a few errands, and while I was gone Rachel and daddy were playing in the bath tub. I think that Rachel is trying to squeeze the bath soap into a milk carton. Josh said she had a great time jumping around and splashing in the little bit of water left from his shower.

In conclusion, I just needed to remember to be grateful for the wonderful husband that I have and the wonderful father that my girls have. He always brings the most joy and happiness into our home. How lucky we are to have him!!!

Someone Likes Hot Dogs!

We went over to Grandma and Grandpas house for dinner this week and to have a little family outing together. We sit down to eat, Bratwursts are Grandpa's and daddy's favorite, so Grandma made Bratwursts and hotdogs for dinner. All of the kids were given one hotdog, some macaroni salad, and some pears. Well within just a coule of minutes Rachel was asking for more hot dog. So, we cut up a second hot dog for her. Then she was asking for more pears, and more pears, and more pears, and then more hotdog. Unfortunately, there weren't any hotdogs left so Grandpa gave her a couple small pieces of Bratwurst. She downed them and was almost immediately asking for more. By this time Grandpa was getting tired of having to keep cutting her food every couple of seconds, so he cut up the whole last bratwurst and stuck the entire thing on her plate. She ate it all!!! Then asked for a cookie! Where on earth did it all go? 2 hotdogs, 1 brat, and almost an entire can of sliced pears... My goodness someone was hungry!

The New Beds

Ok, so bunk beds sounded like such a great idea. The whole sharing a bedroom thing worked really well for several weeks. However, the last couple of days have been AWFUL!!!
How on earth are you supposed to convince a 1-1/2 year old and a 3 year old that they are not supposed to play when it's bed time. I don't think the talking and chattering would bother me as much if they weren't staying up super late and then waking up before 6am every morning. Cranky 1 and Cranky 2 are driving me crazy!

Which probably makes me Cranky 3....

A Beautiful Christmas Day

Well, Christmas was fantastic! It was a wonderful feeling to just relax and spend time together. I'm so glad that Josh was able to get Christmas off from work. We are so blessed!

Santa brought the girls bunk beds. Yah! Now they can live in the same room so that we can have room for a new baby. I made them quilts, with lots of love and support from Josh, and they have been excited to sleep on beds. (Liz has been sleeping on the floor for the last couple of weeks since we've been trying Rachel out on a bed to see how she does).

Elizabeth was completely fascinated with the "Santa Claus" scenario. Once she realized that Santa did really bring her presents, she hasn't stopped about what Santa brought for her. Thank goodness for grandparents, though. Josh and I got the girls mostly new clothes and bedding, so if it weren't for Grandmas and Grandpas, the girls would have been very bored opening presents!

After we finished our little family Christmas at home, we went over to Grandma Judy and Grandpa Dwayne's house for more presents. Josh's Brother Chris and his family had come in from Colorado the night before so there was a large crowd when we arrived. The kids all got down and started opening presents together like crazy. It was a mad house, but they all had a great time. Then the kids all spent the morning and early afternoon playing and having a great time together. Elizabeth and her cousin Alayna even played all day without fighting at all. It was truly a miracle!

Merry Christmas to all, we hope you have all enjoyed your Holiday Season! I'm just adding a little video of Rachel dancing to her new alphabet refrigerator toy from Grandma Patti and Grandpa Davin. She adores this toy and it's just so funny to see her singing the alphabet along with the music.
